Rock and a hard place

It was blowing a gale on Wessenden and visibility was virtually zero but I managed a few shots and didn't hang around for long! The rocks covered in frost looked amazing - like they're from another planet.

Tree treat

The following pictures where taken at Meltham Golf Club. Not somewhere that I would have thought to have gone on a snowy day but my friend suggested it would be a good location for shooting trees and he was right.

Snow use

Last weeks snow gave the opportunity for some interesting shots. It also gave me the opportunity for one of my usual subjects to have a snowy theme.

Never work with...

Although one of W C Fields most famous quotes is "Never work with animals or children" supposedly he secretly admired children. Who was he kidding, give me animals any time.

So I thought I'd have another bash at portrait photography but use, depending on the availability of treats to make him sit still, my dog.

Yes, that's boredom you can see in his eyes and no he wouldn't look at me no matter how many times I said his name. I gave up in the end and he went off and sniffed poo.

One tree hill

What appeared to be a very boring sky today, very blue and no clouds, turned out to be a very good one. Once again I've focused on a silhouetted tree and the sky, whilst interesting, does not draw your eye from the tree.

Lovely day

What a difference a day makes, or a new year for that matter. My last blog had me complaining how horrible the day was, but today, the first day of the new year, and the first chance I've had to get out with my camera, has been beautiful.

This is a shot of Holme Moss.

Holme Moss (524 metres/1,719 ft) is a moor in the South Pennines of England, on the border between the High Peakdistrict of Derbyshire and the Kirklees district of West Yorkshire. It is just inside the boundary of the Peak District National Park. The moor is crossed by the A6024 road between Longdendale and Holmfirth, whose highest point is near the prominent mast of Holme Moss transmitting station (information from Wikipedia).
